Eventra Bespoke — East Africa — Seychelles

Seychelles.
The Definition
of Private.

115 islands scattered across the western Indian Ocean. Granite boulders, turquoise water, and private island lodges accessible only by light aircraft. The Seychelles is where privacy becomes absolute.

The Indian Ocean at Its Most Private

Where the Indian Ocean
meets absolute privacy.

The Seychelles Archipelago comprises 115 islands scattered across 1.3 million square kilometres of the western Indian Ocean, north of Madagascar. No other island group in the world combines this level of natural beauty — ancient granite boulders, luminescent turquoise water, white sand beaches with no development behind them — with the quality of lodge and villa product that the Seychelles has developed over the past two decades.

The inner islands — Mahé, Praslin, La Digue — form the core of most Seychelles journeys, each with its own distinct character and its own claims on the visitor. The outer islands are where privacy becomes something different altogether — private island lodges accessible only by light aircraft, with a handful of villas and no one else around. Eventra selects the right combination of inner and outer islands for each client based on the balance of activity, rest, diving, and isolation that suits them best.

What to Experience

The Inner Islands.
And the Outer Ones.

Inner Islands

Mahé — The Main Island

Mahé is the largest of the Seychelles islands and the primary arrival point for most visitors. The island is home to the national capital Victoria — the world’s smallest capital city — and to some of the group’s most celebrated beaches, including Beau Vallon on the north coast and the quieter Anse Intendance on the south. The Mahé interior is dense tropical forest with marked hiking trails to viewpoints over the archipelago. Most clients use Mahé as the entry and exit point of a Seychelles itinerary, spending a night or two before island-hopping by light aircraft to the smaller islands or the outer archipelago.

Inner Islands

Praslin & La Digue

Praslin is the second-largest Seychelles island and home to the Vallée de Mai — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of only two places in the world where the Coco de Mer palm grows wild. The island’s beaches — particularly Anse Lazio on the north coast — are consistently rated among the world’s finest. La Digue, a 20-minute boat ride from Praslin, is smaller still and largely car-free: bicycles are the primary form of transport. Anse Source d’Argent — framed by dramatic granite boulders and shallow turquoise water — is one of the most photographed beaches in the world and justifies every bit of its reputation.

Ocean

Diving, Snorkelling & Marine Life

The Seychelles is a world-class diving destination. The warm Indian Ocean waters surrounding the islands support exceptional coral gardens, granite reef formations, and a marine life that includes whale sharks, manta rays, hawksbill turtles, and an extraordinary diversity of reef fish. The best diving varies by season: the northwest monsoon (November to April) favours the outer granite islands, while the southeast monsoon (May to October) creates ideal conditions around the inner islands. Praslin’s Anse Lazio and the reefs around La Digue are excellent for snorkelling without a boat. Eventra arranges private dive boats and certified guide operations for all dive and snorkelling programmes.

Outer Islands

Private Island Lodges

The Seychelles outer islands are where the archipelago’s offer becomes unlike anything else in the world. Islands like North Island, Frégate, Denis, and Alphonse are accessible only by light aircraft from Mahé and support a handful of villas — sometimes as few as eleven — in settings of complete isolation. The coral atolls of the outer archipelago — Assumption, Cosmoledo, Astove — are for the most serious divers and fly-fishers: flats fishing for giant trevally and bonefish on pristine sandflats that see almost no pressure. These outer island experiences represent the most private form of Indian Ocean travel available anywhere, and Eventra has direct relationships with the properties and charter operators that make access possible.
