Eventra Bespoke — Southern Africa — South Africa

South Africa.
Safari, Coast
and Cellar.

Table Mountain at first light over the Atlantic. A leopard in the Sabi Sand at dusk. Pinotage with the Stellenbosch mountains turning gold behind it. South Africa compresses more into a single journey than almost anywhere else on earth — and Eventra designs journeys that honour every part of it.

Africa's Most Diverse Destination

Cape to Kruger.
Everything in between.

South Africa is not one destination but many, compressed into a country that rewards those willing to combine its parts. The Sabi Sand Game Reserve, sharing an unfenced boundary with Kruger National Park, offers some of the finest Big Five game viewing in Africa — private concessions with expert guides, intimate camps, and a density of leopard that makes encounters almost guaranteed. Combine it with Cape Town, consistently voted one of the world's most compelling cities, and the result is a journey unlike any other on the continent.

The Cape Winelands — Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Hemel-en-Aarde — deliver a quality of wine, food, and setting that surprises most first-time visitors. The Garden Route strings together a coastline of extraordinary variety from Wilderness to the Tsitsikamma. Hermanus and De Kelders offer some of the world's best land-based whale watching between July and November. The Drakensberg provides a mountain landscape of extraordinary drama. South Africa is the country that gives you everything.

What to Experience

Safari. City. Coast. Cellar.

Big Five Safari

Kruger & the Sabi Sand Game Reserve

Kruger National Park is one of Africa's great wildlife destinations — nearly two million hectares of bushveld supporting all of the Big Five plus a remarkable diversity of species beyond them. The private reserves that share an unfenced boundary with Kruger's western side offer a different quality of experience entirely: intimate camps, unlimited game drives, qualified walking safari guides, and the freedom to follow predators off-road. The Sabi Sand is particularly celebrated for leopard, which here have habituated to vehicles and can be observed at extraordinarily close quarters — often for extended periods.

City

Cape Town

Cape Town is Africa's most compelling city — a place where Table Mountain provides a backdrop so dramatic it still surprises those who know it well, and where the Atlantic and False Bay meet at the foot of the Cape Peninsula. The V&A Waterfront, the Bo-Kaap neighbourhood, Camps Bay, and the Cape Point National Park each offer a different version of the city. Cape Town's restaurant scene has achieved genuine international recognition. The city rewards those who take time with it — two or three nights scratches the surface; five or six begins to feel adequate.

Wine & Food

The Cape Winelands

Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley produce wines that compete with the world's finest — Cabernet Sauvignon and Chenin Blanc in particular — in a setting of mountain-backed valleys and historic Cape Dutch architecture that has few equivalents anywhere. Franschhoek's restaurant row consistently features among Africa's best dining. The winelands sit within an hour of Cape Town and pair naturally with it: two or three days in the city followed by two or three in the winelands is one of the most satisfying travel combinations in the world.

Coastline

The Garden Route & Hermanus

The Garden Route stretches along South Africa's southern coastline from Mossel Bay to the Storms River, threading through Wilderness, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, and the Tsitsikamma forest in a sequence of lagoons, beaches, cliffs, and indigenous forest that makes it one of the most scenic drives in Africa. Hermanus, west of the Garden Route on Walker Bay, is one of the world's premier whale-watching destinations — Southern Right whales arrive from June and remain through November, and can be observed from the cliff paths without a boat. The Great White Shark diving at Gansbaai, nearby, offers a different kind of encounter entirely.
